Before the Hunt
- When can I hunt?

At County Line Game Ranch we welcome hunters daylight to dusk all year long, even on Sundays. << Close Answer
- Do I need a hunting license?

A hunting license is not required to hunt at County Line Game Ranch. The only requirement is that hunters possess a previous hunting license or gun safety certificate. << Close Answer
- Can children accompany parents on a hunt?

We encourage family participation and children are welcome. However, the game ranch is not a petting zoo. In order for us to address the appropriate safety considerations, we must be notified in advance of bringing children to the ranch. << Close Answer
- Can you accommodate hunters with physical disabilities?

Yes, please let us know in advance. In most cases we can drive a hunter right up to the blind. << Close Answer
- How far in advance should I make reservations?

It is always safest to make your reservation as far in advance as possible to secure the date and game that you want. But, our schedule varies, so please call us for availability. A 50% deposit is required to book your hunt. << Close Answer
- Do you provide meals and lodging?

Most hunts can be completed in one day. However, if you are scheduling a multiple-day hunt, you are welcome to stay overnight at our main lodge where we can accommodate a maximum of eight guests. There are also excellent motels and restaurants within 30 minutes of the ranch. << Close Answer
- What should I bring?

Depending on the season and how long you are staying, bring:
Good binoculars for big game hunting
Ammunition or arrows
Water proof hunting boots, and shoes to wear if your boots get muddy
Cap or hat
Sunglasses and Sunscreen
Overnight bathroom kit
Clothing for both cold & warm weather (check current weather)
Camouflage clothing

During the Hunt
- What is your hunters’ success rate? What about wounded game?

Regardless of what you are hunting, we promise to put game within range. However it is up to the individual hunter to bag the intended target. We have a No Wound-No Kill-No Pay policy and our hunters enjoy a success rate of about 98%, but we cannot guarantee dead game. << Close Answer
- What size and quality are the trophies taken on the ranch?

The whitetail on the ranch are exceptional Michigan bucks ranging from respectable wall trophies to jumbo Boone and Crockett trophy bucks. As for other game, there are all shapes and sizes to choose from. << Close Answer
- Do you allow archery, black powder rifle, and handgun hunting?

Yes. Bows must have 45 lbs. or greater pull; black powder rifles must be 50 caliber or better; handguns must be .357 mag or greater. Black powder pistols cannot be used because they do not have the power needed for our game – we want a clean, fast, powerful kill. << Close Answer
- What methods of hunting and stands do you use?

Most hunts for wild hogs and exotics are “spot and stalk.” We use ground and elevated fully-enclosed blinds for rifle and handgun hunters, and ladder-type stands for archery hunters. << Close Answer
- What type of terrain is at the ranch?

The terrain varies from field, to thick brush, to mature timber depending on where you are on the ranch. << Close Answer
- How long is the hunt?

County Line Game Ranch is close enough for the one day challenge, or arrangements can be made for a multiple-day hunt. Most hunts came be completed in one day. However, the length of the hunt depends on variables such as the hunter’s experience, the weather, and the intended game. << Close Answer
- Will there be other hunters staying or hunting in the same area?

We strive to ensure that your hunt is the only hunt booked for a particular date. Our goal is that each hunter will hunt with only familiar companions and their assigned guide. << Close Answer
- What are your safety policies?

Our top priority is ensuring a safe, quality hunting experience for each guest. We have an open bolt policy at all times until you’re in the hunting stand. Firearms are not permitted inside any ranch facility and should be stored on the porch or inside your vehicle. These policies have helped us maintain a zero accident record, and it is expected that everyone adheres to them. << Close Answer

- Where do you get your game?

We breed and raise our own game, including wild boar and white tail deer. Find out why we breed and maintain our own herd. << Close Answer
- How big is County Line Game Ranch?

We own 500 acres and our game runs on 320 acres of it. << Close Answer
- Is the game managed?

Yes, we have had a game management and conservation program since County Line Game Ranch was established in 1998. We harvest inferior genetics, harvest excess does for population and balance control, and allow quality bucks to mature and breed. We plant summer and winter wildlife food plots, and provide supplemental protein and watering stations to disperse the game. << Close Answer
- How many hunters can you accommodate?

For whitetail deer your party can be as large as six hunters. For elk, wild hogs, buffalo, fallow, and other exotics your party can be as large as eight hunters. << Close Answer
- Is there cold storage?

No, but there is one in town if you prefer not to quarter and ice your game down in ice chests. << Close Answer
- Is there taxidermy and butcher service?

We are happy to recommend a local taxidermist or butcher. We can help make arrangements with the bucher/processor or taxidermist once you have completed your hunt. Taxidermy and butcher fees are not included in the hunt fees. << Close Answer
- What about gratuity?

We believe you will find each staff member committed to making your trip safe, successful, and fun. However, If you would like to recognize service that you felt was extra special, please give it directly to your guide, or it can be arranged in advance for business expense reasons. << Close Answer
